To identify and minimise the tendency and forcing errors in four different atmospheric general circulation models (GCMs). The improved models will be developed and tested with special attention to simulation of regional climate over Europe and to seasonal prediction of climate.
The overall target of SINTEX is to assess the possible mechanisms of modulation by the decadal variability of the interannual variations, and rather long simulations (longer than 100 years) with coupled models with realistic equatorial dynamics are needed.
RACINE-S will research and develop digital techniques and tools that allow film-makers and restorers to generate new, synthetic sequences of images and sounds, based on data extracted from existing sequences, to a level of realism and quality that at least matches the best existing methods for film-making. The project will develop prototype systems, research algorithms for mid-term implementation, address standards and metadata issues, and set a roadmap for long-term D-cinema research.
Predictability and variability of monsoons and the agricultural and hydrological impacts of climate change.
Problem to be solved: European decision-makers in government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and industry as well as the general public need detailed information on future climate. In this way it becomes possible to evaluate the risks of climate change due to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases.
Current software licensing practices are limiting the acceleration of Grid adoption. The UniGridS project will develop a Grid Service infrastructure compliant with the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA). It is based on the UNICORE Grid software initially developed in the German UNICORE and UNICORE Plus projects and extended in the EU funded EUROGRID and GRIP projects. These demonstrated the development of an effective Grid, the use of applications in a Grid environment and the interoperability between the Globus Toolkit 2 and UNICORE. The ‘Anti-Bullying-Village' (ABV) is a virtual place created by young people for young people in the virtual 3D environment of OpenSim. At the ABV you can interact with others through avatars, virtual representations of people. In cooperation with schools from Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway, Poland and Israel and young people from across Europe the ABV offers various events on school bullying, violence, racism and xenophobia, such as workshops, film displays, a young people’s conference or exhibitions.

OpenAgri is a project led by Milan Municipality in the context of the European Urban Innovative Actions programme. It aims at creating an "Open Innovation Hub on Peri-Urban Agriculture" in Cascina Nosedo, an ancient farmhouse located in Porto di Mare, an area defined as “urban fringe”. “Cascina Nosedo” will be re-structured and will serve as a living lab for social inclusion, jobs and skills creation, open innovation along the food supply chain while increasing the level of resilience and sustainability of the City. Cineca will contribute designing Open Badges and Open Badge Pathways for the "New Skills for New Jobs in PeriUrban Agriculture" growing in the hub.
