Within the project there will be 12 testbeds, each realizing a digital twin, the digitization of an industrial process, in order to optimize and improve its management.

  • The first 3D stereo HD movie created for a museum. The goal is to tell the story of Bologna with a cartoon, historically validated. Not just a movie but a 3D short film in which viewers can enjoy a journey through 2700 years of Bolognese history.

  • Halfway through the tour of Palazzo Pepoli, part of “Genus Bononiae - museums in the city”, an immersion room will show, besides the 3D movie of Apa, movies and stereoscopic real-time applications about the history of Bologna.

  • HPCW is a consortium of 6 key-players in High Performance Computing all around the world [5 Supercomputing Centers (CINECA, BSC, FZJ, SDSC and BlueFern) plus GENCI, the French national agency in charge of HPC coordination],  with the aim of performing an analysis and an assessment of the models used worldwide by the HPC centers and initiatives to manage the requests for allocation of resources coming from researchers and their communities.

  • Europlanet RI, the Europlanet Research Infrastructure, is the four-year follow-on project to EuroPlaNet, a four-year Coordination Action supported by the 1 under the Sixth Framework Programme. The Europlanet RI was launched in January 2009. It is an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (I3), ie. a combination of Networking Activities, Transnational Access Activities and Joint Research Activities.

  • The European Middleware Initiative (EMI) is a close collaboration of the three major middleware providers, ARC, gLite and UNICORE, and other specialized software providers like dCache.

    The project's mission is to deliver a consolidated set of middleware components for deployment in EGI (as part of the Unified Middleware Distribution - UMD), PRACE and other DCIs, extend the interoperability and integration with emerging computing models, strengthen the reliability and manageability of the services and establish a sustainable model to support, harmonise and evolve the middleware, ensuring it responds effectively to the requirements of the scientific communities relying on it.

  • The Third Cloister of the Certosa in Bologna hosts an important gallery of neo-classical works of art painted on the tombs and monuments housed under its arches.

  • To honour the victims of the liberation struggle (1943-1945), the monumental ossuary dedicated to the fallen partisans and the Memorial to the partisans in Piazza Nettuno have been reconstructed to become a visual element of access to a rich multimedia relational database designed and developed by CINECA along with the 3D models.

  • The ADAM project will implement a diagnosis support component for melanomas early detection integrated into one widespread digital dermatoscopy system. The system should improve the sensitivity and specificity of a general practitioner using the system up to the level of a general dermatologist. More in detail the aim of this project is to develop, test and clinically validate real time DSC (called the ADAM components) for image analysis and the automatic diagnosis of CMM to be integrated into the DS Medica product: VIDEOCAP.

LINCOLN is using innovative design methodologies and tools for the development of three types of completely new vessels concepts through dynamic simulation model testing in the maritime sector.

  • For a better understanding of the funtioning of the Mediterranean Ecosystem, interdisciplinary studies are needed to ensure a strong coupling between the dynamics of the water masses and the behaviour of dissolved and particulate, biogenic and abiogenic substances (source, transportation, transformation and sink).   • The UniGridS project will develop a Grid Service infrastructure compliant with the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA). It is based on the UNICORE Grid software initially developed in the German UNICORE and UNICORE Plus projects and extended in the EU funded EUROGRID and GRIP projects. These demonstrated the development of an effective Grid, the use of applications in a Grid environment and the interoperability between the Globus Toolkit 2 and UNICORE. Information systems for Universities and research

  • The project aVataR@School aims to establish virtual role plays in which pupils ,teachers and others try out strategies for conflict resolution by means of the peer mediation approach . 

  • The ‘Anti-Bullying-Village' (ABV) is a virtual place created by young people for young people in the virtual 3D environment of OpenSim. At the ABV you can interact with others through avatars, virtual representations of people. In cooperation with schools from Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway, Poland and Israel  and young people from across Europe the ABV offers various events on school bullying, violence, racism and xenophobia, such as workshops, film displays, a young people’s conference or exhibitions.

  • The pilot ,three years, project fostered by the Marino Golinelli Foundation onlus (FMG) through a Program Arrangement with the Ministry of Education,University and Research (MUR) -law 6/2000 - is planned for the implementation of the "Experimentation of a didactic model and of the prototype of a mixed system (e -learning + laboratory) for the training of teachers and students about life' s Sciences"

  • OpenAgri is a project led by Milan Municipality in the context of the European Urban Innovative Actions programme. It aims at creating an "Open Innovation Hub on Peri-Urban Agriculture" in Cascina Nosedo, an ancient farmhouse located in Porto di Mare, an area defined as “urban fringe”. “Cascina Nosedo” will be re-structured and will serve as a living lab for social inclusion, jobs and skills creation, open innovation along the food supply chain while increasing the level of resilience and sustainability of the City. Cineca will contribute designing Open Badges and Open Badge Pathways for the "New Skills for New Jobs in PeriUrban Agriculture" growing in the hub.

  • The openVM project aims at promoting and scaling-up VM in HE in Europe through achievement, assessment and recognition of Virtual Mobility Skills of HE educators and students in line with the Bologna and Open Education principles.

Support to the italian Ministries

  • The Project Antenati is coordinated by the General Direction for the Archives of MIBAC (Ministry for the Goods and the Cultural Activities) and is managed by Cineca on the occasion of the project Digital Library. It allows to conduct  registry or genealogical researches in the Net, allowing the access  to millions  images reproducing the content of the  Registries also of civil State and to search for the names of the persons present in the  records coming from the huge documentary holding existing in the Italian State Archives
