Cineca is pleased to inform their stakeholders that the European Commission has granted the legal status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) to the European Plate Observing System (EPOS), a research infrastructure that will provide a better understanding of the physical processes controlling earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, tectonic movements and other such geo-hazards with potentially grave impact on the environment and the welfare of citizens. Cineca has been contributing to the design of the research infrastructure as member of the EPOS Technical Board and represents Cineca within the EPOS ITALIA national joint research unit.

Due to the high importance of the related scientific field, the establishment of the EPOS legal entity is a fundamental achievement and a great success for the whole EPOS Community.
