HPC Surgery: debugging, profiling and optimization of a scientific code

October 2-3, 2012

This event is a 2-day course whose aim is to help developers of scientific codes to better understand optimization techniques and the usage of advanced tools for profiling and debugging. Participants will have the possibility to work together with CINECA experts on their own codes. The course will be held on 2-3 October and the official language will be English.

Participants

 The course is aimed at final year master students, PhD students, and young researchers in computational sciences and scientific areas with different backgrounds.

The number of participants is limited to 10 students. Applicants will be selected according to their experience and scientific code to work on. Priority will be given to those involved on a PRACE project. Experience with a scientific programming language is required (Fortran, C/C++) and Unix operating system.

Attendance is free. Each student will be given a two weeks access to the CINECA's hybrid cluster PLX.

Registrations will be open on June 15, 2012.

Application deadline: September 10, 2012

The list of admitted applicants will be published on September15, 2012.

How to reach us: the school will be held at the CINECA supercomputing center, via Magnanelli 6/3, Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), from monday to friday of each week. CINECA is located 9 Km from the Bologna Airport, 12 Km from the centre of Bologna.  More details.
